Guernica

This painting has more soldiers than the entire Spanish Civil War. Zing!

Seriously though folks, they do not like you taking pics. Couldn't get a good one but this proves I saw it. Second most favorite Picasso after the Old Guitarist.

Nice Surprise

They actually showed an English-language movie on the train ride over to Madrid & it was one of my favorites from the past 2-3 years. Ghost Town. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and rent it. Ricky Gervais is one of my favorite comedian-actors and if you like his shtick, then you will find the movie highly entertaining. Of course, as a rom-com it attempts to pull at the heart strings and is able to pull it off admirably. After seeing it 4-5 times, it still gets me. Thumbs up.

Plan of Attack

It is 7:20pm in Spain, the game is on at 3:30am here. Gives me 6 hours to eat, pack, sleep and send out some emails. Following the game I hop on a train to Madrid. It's supposed to rain, so I'm going to check out a couple of museums. Sunday should be sunny so I will get to check out the city a bit and then back on the train at 4:30pm so I can be home by 7 & in time for the Gold Medal Game!

Monday I'll rest up and pack for my trip back to NY early Tuesday morning.

Moon & Fantastic Mr. Fox

I essentially started out my blog with a post about my top 10 movies of 2009. I noted that I hadn't yet seen Fantastic Mr. Fox or Moon. I saw the latter about a week ago and just finished watching Moon. Both were great - and I was right that both belong on the top 10 of '09 (I'm just not sure who they would replace). With his performance in Moon, and previous efforts in Matchstick Men, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Frost vs. Nixon and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Sam Rockwell is becoming one of my favorite actors. In every movie I've seen him in, he's always one of the most interesting characters.

I'm busy...

No updates for a couple of days. Mostly because I've been working. The weather has been unbelievable in Malaga the last 2 days, but I need to get ready to come home and get ahead of the game a bit with 2 weeks in Austin for SXSW.

So just for the sake of posting something, here's my work setup at my place in Malaga (including views from out the window and on the balcony).

Fridays +/-5

My last 5 Fridays were spent in the following cities: NYC; AGP; GRX; CDZ; BCN
My next 5 Fridays will (likely) be spent in the following: AGP; NYC; AUS; AUS; YYC

I have yet to book the flight home from Austin. There's only one thing I have to discuss with someone which could derail an early trip home, but now that my mind is set on it, I am looking forward to having a Keith's at BTF, being in town for the playoffs & playoff pools, Phil's on Sundays, pho, having a place to go to work, and obviously seeing friends & family.

Aside from the above, what I really want is to be going back to NY. I'll have to figure out how to make that happen on a more permanent basis. Maybe in a year or two or five.

Another change in plans

Due to more unforeseen circumstances, it looks like I will likely be back in Calgary in March!

One of the main reasons for an early return is that I need to pick up a project or two to cover off a couple of bills. There are a couple of potential projects I can grab in Calgary so I will head back unless something drops in my lap when I am in NY or Austin. While I suppose there is a small chance of that, I also need to follow up on some stuff for Game Plan. I thought I would do it remotely but this will be easier. Plus I am starting to miss a few people back home, so I am ready to head back. A trip up to Edmonton will definitely be part of the plans as well.

I was thinking of heading to Maui in April or May, and if I can land a contract or two, then that's still in the cards. We shall see.
