Names that are totally normal

I know, I know - Brian's a pretty wacky name. I hear it all the time.

But believe it or not, names are getting even more crazy than when my parents branded me.

In New Zealand, they are starting to disallow or overturn names given to kids. According to BBC News, the following names have been disallowed or reversed:
  • Sex Fruit
  • Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii
  • Yeah Detroit
  • Keenan Got Lucy
Odd that they'd do that. I mean, who doesn't know at least 2 or 3 people named Sex Fruit? Thank goodness they were reasonable enough to approve 'Number 16 Bus Shelter'.

On a related note, the parents of Adolf Hitler Campbell (age 4), JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell (3), and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell (2) had their kids taken away from them for being unfit parents and maybe having some psychological problems. Go figure.

This is the first I've heard of the government stepping in to prevent the names of kids, and generally I honestly don't know how I feel about it, but for some reason it doesn't seem so unreasonable in these cases.

Introducing Clegg's List

This is something that's been around for a while now. It started kind of as a joke with some friends, and then I actually registered the domain and it became a reality. The site is cleggslist.com - and it serves as a way for me to list stuff I like, employ some fancy wordplay, stroke my own ego, and try out tumblr.  Hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: I probably won't update the site very often - it's been around for a while and has only seen a few updates... but it will be updated enough that it's worth mentioning here. Plus - there's nothing wrong with a little cross-promotion between my personal sites.

Just gonna say it... I think he's wearing heels (not that there's anything wrong with that)

So I was on the old StumbleUpon earlier, and came across this article about the opening of Knight and Day in Seville, Spain (a city which I visited earlier this year and loved - awesome place). Anyway, it struck me that Tom Cruise was looking very tall next to his wife (or at least equally tall). I remember seeing her tower over him... then I saw his shoes.

Either he just experienced a tremendous growth spurt and simultaneous horrific case of claw foot, or he's wearing some cleverly disguised heels. Nicely played Cruise.
